Science Blast

5th Mar 2026

5th Class in Inchicore NS had a fantastic time taking part in Science Blast with their six-week radish growing project. The class investigated whether they could change the colour or taste of radishes by growing them with salt, sugar, and blue food colouring.

To explore the idea further, the class also took part in a flower-dyeing workshop with the florist across the road. They dyed white carnations blue and learned all about transpiration and how plants move water through their stems.

We then travelled to Science Blast to showcase our experiments, where the students enjoyed the live shows, interactive stalls, and reading about other schools’ projects. The class proudly presented their work and received fantastic feedback from their judge. It was a brilliant day of curiosity, discovery, and hands-on science! 🌱🔬🌸
